The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has successfully graduated 62 soldiers who completed a two-month Oracle Level 4 Kit Operator and End User Course at the Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the UPDF’s efforts to equip its personnel with modern technical skills necessary for effective operations.

Brigadier Chris Bagonza, the Chief of Staff – Land Force, congratulated the graduates for their dedication and commitment throughout the training. He also expressed appreciation to the instructors for their tireless efforts in ensuring the success of the course. Brigadier Bagonza emphasized that this training will not only strengthen the institution but also benefit the nation by creating a skilled and capable force ready to support operations efficiently.

Echoing the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Brigadier Bagonza stressed that continuous training is essential for maintaining a modern and professional army. He urged the graduates to uphold the discipline they demonstrated during the course and to apply their newly acquired knowledge in their respective units. “The skills you have acquired should translate into real performance. Share what you have learned and inspire others,” he advised.

Brigadier Ephraim Baguma Mugume, of the Joint Staff Management Information Systems, highlighted the importance of combining military drills with technical training. He explained that drills foster patience and discipline among soldiers, which are vital attributes for professional conduct.

Maj Shaluwah Ddegeya, the Head of Training, commended both the trainees and the instructors for their hard work. She shared that the course covered a wide range of topics, including strength management, records management, pension management systems, payroll and SACCO entries, system security, maintenance, and the use of Management Information System (MIS) kits. These skills are expected to improve operational efficiency within the UPDF and contribute to better management of resources.

The graduation ceremony was attended by both senior and junior UPDF officers, celebrating the achievement of the soldiers and reinforcing the UPDF’s commitment to continuous professional development. With these new skills, the 62 graduates are now better prepared to serve the nation with competence, discipline, and technical expertise.
