Just In!! PLU Rewards Sanjay Tanna’s Consistency with Senior Appointment in Eastern Region Campaign Taskforce

Must read

Hon. Sanjay Tanna, the former MP for Tororo Municipality and seasoned NRM leader, has been appointed as the head of the Eastern Region Campaign Task Force for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), tasked with supporting President Museveni’s re-election efforts.

Tanna, a former candidate for the position of NRM Eastern Region Vice Chairman in 2020 and most recently a candidate for NRM National Entrepreneurs League Chair, now takes on the pivotal role of leading PLU’s regional campaign efforts. This appointment was confirmed in a letter dated October 21, 2025, from Michael Nuwagira Kaguta Toyota, National Vice Chairman of PLU, addressed to the NRM Secretary General, Hon. Richard Todwong.

The decision follows a high-level meeting between the NRM and PLU secretariats, where both parties agreed to collaborate in soliciting votes for President Museveni’s re-election campaign.

As the Eastern Region Coordinator, Hon. Tanna will be supported by Deputy Coordinator Jacqueline Aguram Namuyonga. The sub-regional coordinators under Tanna’s leadership include Samuel Nabeta (Busoga), Kinobere Herbert (Bukedi), Fadhil Twaha (Kapchorwa), Hon. Peter Ogwang (Teso), and Woboya Vincent (Bugisu). Their collective goal is to amplify the NRM’s efforts in mobilizing votes under the campaign theme “Tuko Pamoja.”

Hon. Sanjay Tanna is a known figure in NRM’s election strategy, having previously led the 2021 Presidential Task Force for the Bukedi, Sebei, and Bugisu sub-regions. That task force, headed by Al Hajji Moses Kigongo, played a crucial role in securing votes in these areas, which were previously challenged by Bobi Wine’s NUP. Tanna’s continued leadership in these regions is a testament to his dedication and effectiveness as a key vote mobilizer for the party.

This latest appointment highlights the confidence placed in Tanna’s ability to drive NRM’s agenda in the Eastern region as the party prepares for the 2026 general elections.
