KACITA Acting Chairman and 13 Others Arrested for Incitement, Assault on Police

Must read

The Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested Mr. Issa Sekito, the acting Chairman of KACITA, to assist in investigations related to incitement and assault on police officers. Authorities at Central Police Station (CPS) confirmed that Mr. Sekito’s statement is yet to be recorded and that the appropriate charges will be determined as investigations continue.

In addition to Mr. Sekito, police arrested thirteen other suspects yesterday for allegedly inciting violence and assaulting officers who were performing their lawful duties. The case file has been submitted to the Resident State Attorney for legal review and advice on prosecution.

Police have appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid actions that could provoke unrest or threaten the safety of others. They specifically urged residents and business owners in the city centre, many of whom have reopened their shops, to continue conducting business peacefully.

To ensure safety and prevent further incidents, Kampala police have promised to maintain a visible presence throughout the city centre. Officers will continue patrolling key areas to deter illegal activity and protect both residents and businesses.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, reiterated that the force is committed to upholding law and order, stressing that any attempts to incite violence or interfere with police operations will be met with firm action.
