In the early hours of November 28, 2025, residents of Kajjubi Zone, Ndeeba Parish in Rubaga Division, Kampala, were startled by a fire outbreak at around 2:20 a.m. The blaze is reported to have started from a suspected furniture workshop within the area, according to preliminary police reports.

Sgt. Akwii Betty and her team were the first to document the incident, filing a formal report under SD Reference 03/28/11/2025. Authorities quickly contacted the Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services to respond to the emergency and contain the fire before it spread to neighboring buildings.

Firefighters responded promptly with multiple fire engines, including UP 4694, UP 5517, UP 0611, UP 9421, and 9107, under the supervision of AIP Abudallah Latif. Additional support was provided by MV UP 7718 under ASP Wamunga Fred, who coordinated the firefighting efforts on the scene.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke rising over the area before the fire trucks arrived. While initial reports suggest that the blaze originated from a furniture workshop, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. No casualties have been reported so far, but local authorities are assessing the extent of property damage.

Police and fire department officials have assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the origin and cause of the fire. They also warned residents in the area to remain vigilant, especially in zones with workshops and other flammable materials.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of fire safety, urging local business owners and residents to follow precautionary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Firefighters continue to monitor the area to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and that no hidden flames remain.

The Kajjubi Zone fire is a reminder of the risks posed by early morning fires in densely populated urban areas, where rapid response and coordination between police and fire services are crucial. Updates from investigators are expected in the coming days as they continue to gather more findings regarding the incident.

Residents are advised to remain calm but report any suspicious activity or fire hazards to the authorities promptly, to ensure public safety and prevent further emergencies.
