In a significant reshuffle within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the new commander of the UPDF Armoured Division in Masaka.
Brigadier General Pande Kajuba succeeds the late Major General Deus Sande, who passed away yesterday due to severe breathing complications. Prior to this appointment, Brigadier Pande Kajuba served as the Deputy Commander of the Armoured Division, working closely under Major General Sande.
Alongside this appointment, Colonel Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara from the Special Forces Command (SFC) has been promoted to Brigadier General and will serve as the new Deputy Commander of the Armoured Division. These changes take effect immediately.

In congratulating the newly appointed officers, the UPDF expressed confidence in their ability to uphold the division’s operational readiness and continue the legacy of service left by Major General Sande. The leadership transition comes at a crucial time for the UPDF, as the Armoured Division remains a key component of Uganda’s defence strategy.
We wish Brigadier General Pande Kajuba and Brigadier General Bagonza success as they assume their new responsibilities and continue to strengthen Uganda’s military capabilities.
