Shock in Mubende as Kidnapper Murders Child Despite Receiving Ransom

Must read

Police in Mubende District have recovered the body of a four-year-old boy who had been kidnapped and later murdered by a suspect who demanded ransom from the child’s family. The heartbreaking incident has left residents in shock and raised concern about the safety of children in the community.

According to police reports, the case began on 9th March 2026 when Mr. Baingana Eric, a resident of Nalutete LC1 in Kiyonga Parish, Kigando Sub-county in Mubende District, reported the disappearance of his son Kazungu Daniel, aged four years. The father explained that on that morning at around 5:00 a.m., he woke up to prepare his children for school. However, he was shocked to discover that the young boy was missing from his bed.

Further checks revealed that the back door of the house had been opened, even though the rest of the family members were still asleep. It is believed that the kidnapper broke into the house during the night and secretly took away the child without alerting anyone in the home.

Shortly after the child went missing, the suspect reportedly contacted the family and demanded a ransom of six million shillings in exchange for the safe return of the boy. In desperation and hope of saving their child, the family managed to mobilize one million shillings, which they sent to the suspect. Unfortunately, the kidnapper had already murdered the child despite receiving the money.

Security agencies quickly launched investigations into the case. A joint tracking team from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and the Police Flying Squad worked together to trace the suspect. Their efforts eventually led them to Kibaati in Kansanga, Makindye Division in Kampala, where the suspect was arrested.

The suspect, identified as Muwanguzi Emmanuel, a resident of Kisonde LC1 in Rwigo Parish, Kibaale District, later confessed to kidnapping and murdering the child. He also admitted that he dumped the body of little Kazungu Daniel in a pit latrine belonging to Rwabutariye Frank in Nalutete.

On the morning of 13th March 2026, the Police Fire Brigade team in Mubende successfully retrieved the child’s body from the pit latrine. The body was later transported to Mubende Hospital Mortuary for further examination as investigations continue.

Police have since confirmed that the suspect has been charged with murder and will be produced before court to face the law. Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to help prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
