Joint security teams comprising the Police and the Army conducted a well-coordinated operation on 24th March 2026 that successfully disrupted several criminal cells in Pece Prisons Cell, Kyenjere, and the surrounding areas of Gulu. During the operation, a number of suspects believed to be part of organized crime groups were arrested. They are currently being held at the Gulu City East Policing Division as investigations continue. Among those arrested are Ochola Desmon, Okot Emma, and another individual identified only by the nickname “24.” Security agencies have also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to capture other suspects who are still on the run.
The operation led to the recovery of several items believed to be linked to criminal activities. These included 10 rounds of ammunition, a pair of police uniforms, bunches of keys, four pangas, and four knives. Officers also recovered housebreaking tools, four large padlocks, mattresses, and two television sets, which are suspected to have been stolen. The discovery of these items shows how organized and prepared the criminal groups were.
Authorities have reassured the public of their continued commitment to ensuring safety and security in the community. They emphasized that such operations will continue to target criminal elements and restore peace. At the same time, they urged members of the public to cooperate by providing any information that may help in the arrest of the remaining suspects.
