Special Memorial Service in Honour of Four Children Murdered in Gaba

Must read

Ugandans are being invited to come together in a special memorial service to remember the four children who tragically lost their lives in a heartbreaking incident at the Early Childhood Development Programme in Gaba. The tragic event has left the community in shock and mourning, and this service will provide an opportunity for people to mourn, pray, and show their support for the grieving families.

The memorial service will take place on Monday, 6 April 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Gaba Community Church. It will bring together families who have lost their children, community members, faith leaders, and partners. This is a chance for the public to stand in solidarity with the bereaved families during this difficult time. Everyone is welcome to attend, as your presence will be a powerful reminder of the compassion and support that we all share for the children and families affected by this tragedy.

The service will be led by Rev. Peter Kasirivu, Senior Pastor and Team Leader of Africa Renewal Ministries, who will guide attendees in prayers and reflections. The memorial will not only be a time to mourn the loss of these innocent lives but also to reaffirm the community’s commitment to protecting and ensuring the well-being of children across Uganda.

The government has promised to continue supporting the affected families and strengthen the safeguarding measures within early learning centres and schools to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future. As Minister Balaam Barugahara, the Minister of State for Children Affairs, expressed, this service also reflects Uganda’s ongoing commitment to the safety and security of its children.

The words from the Bible, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14), will guide the reflections during the service. This powerful statement reminds us of the importance of nurturing and protecting children, who are the future of the nation.

This memorial service will be a time for the community to heal together, honor the lives of the children lost, and offer support to the families who are facing unimaginable pain. It is a moment to reflect on the tragedy while also coming together to make a firm commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in Uganda.
