A bold legal idea is gaining attention: all proceedings linked to Computer Misuse laws should be frozen. The argument is simple. If the legal basis of certain charges is unclear or flawed, then continuing court cases may not be fair. By stopping these cases, the justice system can take time to review whether the law has been applied correctly.
According to this view, the Attorney General (AG) has advised the Government to act carefully. The advice suggests that ongoing prosecutions under these laws could be unsafe. If the foundation of a charge is weak, then it raises serious concerns about fairness and justice. Courts are meant to protect people, not punish them under uncertain rules.
As a result, there is a strong call for immediate action. Courts are being urged to release all accused persons facing charges that may now be considered invalid. This does not mean they are proven innocent, but it ensures they are not held unfairly while the law is being questioned.
This situation highlights how important it is for laws to be clear and fair. When doubts appear, the system must respond quickly. Freezing proceedings and freeing affected individuals may be the first step toward restoring trust in justice.
