Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has ordered DAS Air Cargo to sell all its interests in Uganda to Uganda Airlines, saying the transaction must be completed by November 30, 2026.
In a post on X, Muhoozi stated: “Furthermore, I am hereby ordering DAS Air Cargo to sell all their interests in Uganda to @UG_Airlines at a fair price.”
According to Muhoozi, the price for the transaction will not be decided by the two parties alone. He said the government valuer will determine what he described as a fair price for the interests being sold.
He further directed that the process must be completed no later than November 30, 2026, setting a clear deadline for the proposed transfer.
The announcement could have significant implications for Uganda’s aviation and cargo transport sector, particularly if DAS Air Cargo’s operations, assets or other interests are transferred to the national carrier.
Muhoozi did not provide details about the specific interests owned by DAS Air Cargo in Uganda, their estimated value, or the terms under which Uganda Airlines would acquire them. He also did not explain the legal or administrative process through which the order would be implemented.
The directive is likely to attract attention from stakeholders in Uganda’s aviation industry as the country continues efforts to strengthen Uganda Airlines and expand its role in both passenger and cargo transportation.
