Police in Namayingo District have arrested 21 suspects during an intelligence-led operation aimed at disrupting criminal activities in Namayingo Town Council.
The operation was carried out on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at about 1:00am, targeting areas suspected to be linked to crime, including bars operating beyond approved hours, illegal gaming centres, black spots and ghettos.
The operation was led by the Officer in Charge of Namayingo Police Station under the guidance of the District Police Commander (DPC) Namayingo, SP Emuron Simon Peter.
During the crackdown, police arrested 13 males and eight females who were found in different situations, including drinking in bars that were operating late into the night with loud music, participating in games of chance and staying in areas identified as black spots.
The suspects are currently being held at Namayingo Central Police Station as police continue with investigations under reference numbers SD 04, 05 and 06/27/08/2026.
Police said the suspects will be screened and those found to have violated the law will be taken to court to face charges.
Authorities have warned bar owners and gaming centre operators against breaching licensing requirements and operating outside permitted hours.
The police said such operations will continue across the district as part of efforts to maintain law and order, prevent crime and ensure the safety of residents.
ASP Kasadha Michael, the Regional Police Spokesperson for Busoga East, urged members of the public to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
