Special Forces Command (SFC) Alpha has emerged the overall winner of the 2026 Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Interforce Competition after defeating 17 other Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) teams in a contest that tested military skills, teamwork and discipline.
The SFC Alpha team took home a cash prize of Shs50 million after being declared the best-performing unit during the competition held at Kololo Independence Grounds on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The annual competition was organised to promote excellence, unity, teamwork and professional discipline among UPDF personnel. It brought together 18 teams from different formations and units of the army, all competing for the top position through a series of challenging military drills and activities.
The competition was conducted in three stages, beginning with preparations at individual units, followed by elimination rounds before the final contest at Kololo. After the intense preliminary stages, six teams qualified for the grand finale, where they battled for the championship.
The 3 Infantry Division, based in Moroto District, put up a strong performance and finished as the runners-up. The team was rewarded with Shs15 million for its outstanding display during the competition.
Lieutenant General James Nakibus Lakara, who served as the chief judge, announced SFC Alpha as the overall winner and later handed over awards to other units that performed exceptionally well in different military drills.
The CDF Interforce Competition continues to serve as an important platform for strengthening cooperation among UPDF units while encouraging soldiers to maintain high standards of professionalism, preparedness and teamwork in carrying out their duties.
