Police in the Albertine South Region are investigating a fatal road traffic crash that claimed the life of Mr. Banura Peter, the LC5 Chairperson of Kikuube District. The tragic incident occurred in Butyamba Village, located in the Butyamba IDP area, Kikuube Town Council, when a speeding Toyota Hiace motor vehicle struck Mr. Banura. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at high speed before the crash, leading to the unfortunate accident.
After being hit, Mr. Banura was rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention. Sadly, despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His sudden death has deeply affected the community, as he was a respected leader and figure in the district.
Following the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but the police were able to recover and impound the vehicle. Investigations are now underway, with authorities working to identify the driver and bring them to justice. The police are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in locating the individual responsible for this fatal incident.
