Police have arrested a woman suspected of being connected to the murder of Namuwulya Jovia, who was stabbed to death on August 20, 2026, in Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
The suspect, identified as Turindwamukama Patricia Rose, was arrested on August 24, four days after the incident. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal, she was arrested from her friend’s house in Mbuya, Nakawa Division, where she had reportedly been staying.
Police say the arrest came as investigators continued to follow leads into the circumstances surrounding Jovia’s death. The suspect is now in police custody as detectives work to establish her alleged involvement in the killing.
Preliminary investigations have also revealed that the suspect may have been planning to leave Uganda. Police say she was reportedly preparing to travel to Iraq, raising further questions about her activities after the murder.
Investigators have established that Patricia Rose applied for an Iraqi visa on August 21, just one day after Jovia was killed. Police have since recovered relevant documents, which are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
The visa application has become an important part of the investigation as detectives try to establish whether the suspect was attempting to leave the country after the incident. However, police have not yet released details about the motive for the alleged murder or explained the full circumstances surrounding Jovia’s death.
The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue. Police say more information will be released as they establish the facts surrounding the death of Namuwulya Jovia.
