The Kampala Metropolitan Police, together with other sister security agencies, carried out a series of intelligence-led operations on 13 and 14 May 2026 in several parts of the metropolitan area, targeting suspected criminal hideouts. The operations focused on areas within Kira Municipality, Kajjansi Town Council, and the Kira Road Police Division.

These coordinated efforts were aimed at disrupting groups believed to be involved in criminal activities. According to police reports, the targeted locations included Kiyinda, Bulindo Kiwologoma, Lweza, Nakigalala, Seguku, Kulambiro, and Tuba. Authorities noted that these areas had become known gathering points for individuals suspected of abusing narcotic substances and planning crimes such as burglary and theft.

During the operations, police arrested a total of 37 suspects. Security teams also recovered several exhibits from the scene, including suspected marijuana, dry plant materials, and playing cards believed to be linked to drug use and coordination of illegal activities.

All the suspects were taken into custody and are currently being held at different police stations. They are undergoing screening, fingerprinting, and further processing as investigations continue. The police have indicated that the suspects will be taken through the legal system once inquiries are complete.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police described the operations as successful and part of ongoing efforts to reduce crime in the city and surrounding areas. They emphasized that such intelligence-led actions will continue in order to improve public safety and prevent criminal networks from operating freely within communities.
