The Kampala Metropolitan Police has recorded a serious case in the North Kyoga Region involving an allegation of attempted rape in Kole District. The incident reportedly took place on 21st April 2026 at around 1:30 PM within Kole Police Barracks and was later reported to police the same day in the evening.

According to preliminary information, the case was reported by a 63-year-old retired UPDF corporal, a resident of Kole Town Council. The victim is a 19-year-old Senior Five student at Akalo Comprehensive Secondary School.

The suspect in the case is a senior police officer attached to Kole District CID. It is alleged that he contacted the victim by phone and asked her to come to the barracks to pick up a history book that would help her studies. When the victim arrived, she was welcomed into the suspect’s residence.

Authorities state that while inside, the suspect allegedly attempted to force himself on the victim. However, the act was not completed. The situation was interrupted after people were heard outside, prompting the suspect to stop. The victim was later found and taken by police for further assistance.

A team from the regional police visited and processed the scene. Statements have been recorded from the victim and her parents, and a medical examination form was issued to support investigations. The suspect has since been arrested and formally charged.

Police say several inquiries are still ongoing, including official documentation of the case, medical examination results, and further interrogation of the suspect. Efforts are also underway to confirm key details related to the victim.

Authorities have assured the public that investigations will be handled thoroughly and professionally. They have also emphasized their commitment to justice and accountability, regardless of the rank or position of the suspect.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
