Stolen in Broad Daylight, Found Within Hours! Police Rescue Kidnapped Infant

Must read

Police at Kira Division have successfully recovered a three-month-old baby boy who had been reported stolen in a shocking incident that left a family in distress. The case, which began in Kireka D Cell, quickly gained attention due to the bold manner in which the child was taken. What started as a normal family visit turned into a nightmare when a trusted relative allegedly used deception to carry out the act.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Amongin Brenda, had traveled from Kalaki District to visit her cousin, Akunyo Sarah. She told the family that her visit was for a routine purpose—to process her National ID using express services. Her explanation appeared harmless, and she was welcomed into the home without suspicion. However, behind this calm appearance, investigators believe she had already planned the crime.

The following day, on 5th May 2026 at around 2:00 PM, the baby’s mother briefly stepped out of the house, leaving her child asleep. In just a short moment, everything changed. When she returned, the baby was gone. Panic quickly spread through the household as it became clear that both the child and the visiting relative had disappeared. What seemed like a simple visit had turned into a carefully executed abduction.

Police at Kira Division responded swiftly, launching a coordinated effort to track down the suspect. Their work paid off within a short time. On 6th May 2026, the suspect was located and arrested in Soroti District. Even more importantly, the stolen baby was found safe and unharmed. The quick action by authorities brought relief to the family and the wider community.

Preliminary investigations have revealed a troubling motive behind the crime. It is alleged that the suspect had lied to her husband, convincing him that she was pregnant. In an attempt to support this claim, she reportedly asked him for money on 2nd May 2026, saying she needed to go to the hospital to give birth. Police believe the kidnapping was part of a plan to present the stolen baby as her own.

The suspect is now in police custody and is expected to face serious charges. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to reunite the baby fully with his family and provide support after the traumatic experience. The case serves as a reminder of how trust can sometimes be misused, but also highlights the importance of swift police action in protecting lives and restoring hope.
