Must read

The government of of Uganda is preparing to address the financial pullout by the foreign donors that have been funding the projects of feeding refugees in Uganda after notifying Uganda of their plans to end the financial aid within three months.

Government will be required to shoulder the financial obligation of feeding all the 1.7million refugees residing in Uganda.

The revelation was made by Hon Justine Kasule Lumumba, Minister of General Duties- Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), while appearing before Parliament’s Presidential Affairs Committee where she led the team from OPM in presenting its 2025/26 ministerial policy statement.

“We are writing a paper to take to Cabinet to look at the issue of food for the refugees, already the donors have written to us that they are only able to provide food for the refugees for the next three months, after that, then after that, we must find a solution to that. And you know when you talk of 1.7Million people, when it comes to feeding, we can’t postpone. So we must have a discussion at Cabinet, then come to Parliament to discuss this matter.”Said Hon Lumumba
