BREAKING NEWS!! Night Fire Destroys School Dormitory in Kampala, Police Launch Investigation

In the early hours of Tuesday, June 10, 2025, a serious fire broke out at Nakawa Union Vision Secondary School, located in Butabika Hospital village, Butabika parish, Nakawa division of Kampala district. The fire, which started around 1:00 am, caused panic among residents and students, as flames engulfed part of the boys’ dormitory block.

According to police, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the electrical system. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. The school administration quickly alerted the police, and the fire brigade from Butabika police station responded immediately. Additional help came from the fire brigade headquarters, and together the teams worked hard to bring the fire under control before it could spread further.

While the exact value of the destroyed property has not yet been confirmed, it is clear that part of the dormitory block suffered significant damage. Students were safely evacuated, and no serious injuries were reported. The quick response from the emergency teams helped prevent a more tragic outcome.

Police have now started investigations to understand exactly what caused the fire and to ensure such an incident does not happen again. The school community and parents are waiting for a full report as repairs and recovery efforts begin.
