On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) made a significant announcement that will shape the country’s future development plans. The government has finalized and released area-specific data from the 11th National Population and Housing Census (NPHC), which was conducted in May 2024. The first main report of the Census 2024 was already published on December 31, 2024, but this new release provides even more focused and detailed statistics.
This latest update covers District, County/Division, and Subcounty/Town Council profiles, grouped according to their sub-regions. The profiles contain essential baseline data all the way down to the Parish level. These details include population figures, demographic trends, and other vital statistics that will support both national and local government planning.
Why does this matter? Because the information is not just numbers—it’s the foundation for evidence-based decisions. The data plays a key role in monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is essential for the proper rollout of the Parish Development Model (PDM), Uganda’s grassroots approach to improving local economies and reducing poverty.
UBOS is encouraging citizens, planners, researchers, and policy makers to access the area profiles, which are available online via the official UBOS website: https://www.ubos.org.
More thematic reports, also called monographs, will continue to be published by UBOS. These will dig deeper into specific sectors to support effective planning and policy decisions across the country.

With reliable data now available, Uganda is better equipped to plan wisely, act strategically, and build a future that leaves no community behind.
