Hon. Balaam Barugahara, Uganda’s Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, survived a tragic accident on his way to the Tooro Kingdom Youth Conference in Fort Portal. The accident occurred in Kagadi District and left behind a mix of sorrow and gratitude. While the Minister and his team escaped with their lives, a boda boda rider sadly died in the collision, and two members of his team were seriously injured.
According to Hon. Barugahara, the accident was horrific. The team was traveling to attend the annual Tooro Kingdom Youth Conference when the crash happened. He expressed deep gratitude to God for His mercy and praised his driver for the quick and skillful action that likely prevented even more loss of life. “I’m grateful for our driver’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvers that saved us,” the Minister said.
Despite their escape, the loss of life has left a shadow over the trip. The Minister mourned the death of the boda boda rider and sent heartfelt condolences to the grieving family. “May the deceased soul rest in peace,” he added solemnly. He also wished a speedy recovery to the two injured team members.
The accident serves as a reminder of how quickly life can change and how dangerous our roads can be. It also highlights the importance of road safety for all, especially during long-distance travels. The Minister’s survival was a blessing, but the loss of life is a tragedy that won’t be forgotten.
As the Minister continues with his duties, he carries with him both the pain of loss and the responsibility to keep advocating for the safety and well-being of the youth and all Ugandans
