First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Alitwaala Kadaga, has dismissed claims that she was disqualified from the race for Second Vice Chairperson Women in the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC). Rumors circulating online suggested that Kadaga, the Kamuli Woman MP, had been removed from the race for allegedly using sectarian language that could weaken the party’s unity. She, however, called the reports fake, malicious, and designed to confuse her supporters.
Speaking to Watchdog News, Kadaga described the rumors as “absolute nonsense.” She was shocked that her political rivals on social media spread the news before she was officially informed, calling it a suspicious attempt to undermine her position. According to Kadaga, these tactics are part of a larger campaign of misinformation meant to weaken her candidacy.
Kadaga reassured her supporters and delegates that she remains in the race and has no intention of stepping aside for anyone. She criticized her opponents for wasting time spreading lies instead of focusing on convincing voters. Kadaga also promised that her team would respond decisively to every attempt to mislead her supporters.
In a strong message to her rivals, Kadaga urged them to stop using dirty tricks and instead focus on gaining votes from delegates. She said she is fully prepared for the challenge ahead and vowed to make her opponents “sweat” during the contest.
Currently serving as Vice Chairperson Women, Kadaga is competing with her long-time rival, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among. While Among has built her campaign on promises to strengthen the party, Kadaga believes her spotless record and proven experience make her the right choice to continue serving in the position. The growing rivalry has set the stage for a competitive and intense race, with Kadaga warning that anyone underestimating her will face sleepless nights.
