The family of former Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo, is mourning the death of their daughter, Rachael Buturo, who passed away on December 17, 2025. The sad news has deeply touched many people in Kampala and beyond, especially those who knew Rachael personally or through her wide social networks.
Rachael was a well-known socialite in Kampala and was admired for her lively and welcoming nature. Friends and acquaintances describe her as kind, social, and easy to talk to. Many remember her as someone who could easily connect with people from different backgrounds, making her popular across various social circles in the city.
In a funeral announcement shared with the public, Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo and his wife expressed deep pain and sorrow over the loss of their daughter. They described her death as a devastating moment for the family, one that has left them heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.
According to the burial programme released by the family, a vigil will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the family home in Mutungo. The vigil is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm and is expected to bring together family members, friends, and well-wishers who wish to stand with the family during this difficult time.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Bugolobi Church of Uganda. The service is scheduled to start at 3:00 pm and will give mourners an opportunity to pray, reflect, and celebrate Rachael’s life and the impact she had on those around her.
After the church service, Rachael’s body will be transported to Kisoro District, where her final resting place will be. Burial is scheduled for December 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon, in the presence of close family members and friends who will travel to Kisoro to pay their last respects.
The family has not yet disclosed the official cause of Rachael’s death. However, some close friends have said that she had complained of a severe migraine before her passing, though this information has not been confirmed by the family.
Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo is a former cabinet minister who served as Minister of Ethics and Integrity and remains a respected figure in Uganda’s public life.
