Must read

Kampala Metropolitan Police conducted a major security operation in Kampala Metropolitan South in the early hours of 20th December 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to protect the public during the festive season. The operation was led by officers from CPS Kampala and started shortly after midnight, a time when criminal activities are most likely to occur. The move was aimed at ensuring that city residents can celebrate the holidays in a safe and peaceful environment.

The operation focused on known crime black spots within the area. These are locations where criminals are known to hide and wait for unsuspecting members of the public, especially during late hours. By targeting these hotspots, police sought to disrupt criminal activities and prevent robberies and violent attacks before they could take place.

During the operation, police arrested a total of 70 adult males. Preliminary findings indicate that many of the suspects are known to law enforcement and had already been wanted by different police stations. This highlights that the operation was intelligence-led and targeted individuals suspected of being involved in ongoing criminal activities within the city.

All the suspects were detained at CPS Kampala as investigations continue. Police confirmed that the suspects are expected to be charged in court in accordance with the law once investigations are complete. Authorities emphasized that due process will be followed and that all legal procedures will be respected.

Kampala Metropolitan Police have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order across the city. They assured the public that similar security operations will continue throughout the festive season to deter crime and protect lives and property. The police believe that sustained patrols and targeted operations will help keep the city calm and secure.

The public has been encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activities through established police channels. According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, public cooperation is vital in ensuring a peaceful and crime-free festive season.
