The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has refuted claims that there is a delay in the release of the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results. The Board clarified that information circulating on social media suggesting that the delay was caused by an internet shutdown during the election period on January 14 is false.
According to UNEB, the rumours are misleading and should not cause unnecessary panic among parents, candidates, and schools. Mrs. N. Kalule Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer of UNEB, addressed the matter through a press release, stressing that the Board has not faced any challenges that would affect the processing or release of the PLE results.
Mrs. Kalule explained that UNEB is still operating within its stipulated timelines and that there is no delay whatsoever. She assured the public that the results will be released as planned, and the official release date will be communicated in due course. She urged parents, head teachers, and school administrators to remain calm and wait for official communication from the Board.
In a related warning, Mrs. Kalule cautioned schools against fraudsters impersonating security personnel and other officials. She revealed that some individuals are tricking schools into giving them money, falsely claiming that they can improve candidates’ results or remove schools from a list of results that may be withheld. She strongly warned that such acts are criminal.
UNEB called upon schools and the general public to report any suspected fraudsters to the relevant authorities. The Board emphasized that examination results cannot be altered by individuals and that all official processes are handled transparently and professionally.
