Students from the School of Defence Intelligence and Security (SODIS), Migyera, have visited the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) Headquarters in Kibuli for a study tour aimed at deepening their understanding of national security, criminal investigations and emerging security challenges.

During the visit, the students were addressed by AIGP Tom Magambo, the Director of CID, who delivered a lecture on strategic security threats and national priorities. He highlighted the important role played by criminal investigations in promoting national stability, fighting crime and supporting socio-economic transformation.

AIGP Magambo explained that the security environment continues to change, requiring security professionals to develop a deeper understanding of both traditional and modern threats. He noted that effective intelligence, investigations and cooperation among security institutions are essential in protecting the country and its citizens.

The CID Director emphasized the strong connection between security and development, saying that a peaceful and stable environment creates opportunities for economic growth, investment and improved livelihoods. He encouraged the students to view security as a key foundation for national progress.

The study tour also provided the SODIS students with an opportunity to interact with CID officials and gain practical knowledge about the work of investigators. They were able to understand how intelligence and investigations contribute to preventing crime, addressing security risks and maintaining law and order.

The engagement between CID and SODIS reflects the importance of sharing knowledge and experience among security institutions. Such interactions help prepare future security leaders with the skills and understanding needed to respond to complex challenges facing the country.

The visit ended with a renewed commitment to strengthening cooperation, training and professional development among institutions responsible for safeguarding national security.
