Police in Mukono District have arrested two men suspected of being involved in electricity vandalism and impersonation, in an incident that has raised concern about security and public safety. The suspects, Kakooza Paul, aged 24, and Tenywa Bernley, aged 32, are both electricians and are currently in custody as investigations continue.
According to reports, the incident took place in Kasai, Mukono District, at Emeralt Primary School. The two men allegedly dressed in uniforms resembling those of UEDCL, giving the impression that they were legitimate workers. Using this disguise, they gained access to the school under the pretense of taking electricity meter readings.
However, their actions reportedly went far beyond inspection. It is alleged that the suspects climbed an electric pole within the school premises and removed cables that were supplying electricity to the school. This act not only disrupted power but also put lives at risk, especially in a school environment where safety is critical.

Authorities also revealed that the suspects did not have any official identification documents to prove they were authorized to carry out such work. To further their disguise, they were reportedly riding a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number UFR 408P, and had painted the number plate blue to resemble those used by official UEDCL vehicles.
The two suspects are now being held by police and are expected to face prosecution. Their arrest serves as a warning to the public to remain alert and verify the identity of individuals claiming to be officials, especially when they request access to sensitive areas.
This incident highlights the growing concern over impersonation and infrastructure vandalism, crimes that not only cause financial loss but also disrupt essential services. As investigations continue, authorities are urging communities to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
