Driver in Fatal Nalulanda Crash Remanded to Prison After Two Journalists Were Killed

Must read

The driver accused of causing the fatal crash at Nalulanda along Entebbe Road, which claimed the lives of two journalists and left another seriously injured, has been remanded to prison.

Kigozi John Baptist appeared before the Chief Magistrates Court at Kajjansi today, August 28, 2026, where he faced five charges linked to the deadly road crash.

The charges brought against Kigozi include two counts of causing death by reckless driving. He also faces one count of causing injury by reckless driving, a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and another count of reckless driving.

The case follows the crash at Nalulanda along Entebbe Road in which two journalists lost their lives, while another journalist sustained serious injuries.

During the court appearance, Kigozi was remanded to prison until August 31, 2026. The court will then consider the matter further as the case proceeds.

The charges against Kigozi are allegations at this stage, and he is entitled to a fair hearing and to be presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.

The fatal crash has raised concern over road safety, particularly the dangers of reckless and drunk driving, which continue to put the lives of motorists, passengers and other road users at risk.

Further updates are expected as the case comes up again in court and the legal process continues.
