A high-level meeting has taken place between the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen. The meeting was held at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.

The discussions focused on the suspension and closure of major media platforms under NMG Uganda, including NTV Uganda and the Daily Monitor. These closures have raised concern among media stakeholders and the public, as both outlets are among the most influential news sources in the country.

According to the information shared, the meeting brought together key figures from the media group’s ownership and management. Among those present was NMG owner Mr. Rostam Aziz, alongside his son Mr. Saam Aziz. Also attending was Ms. Georgia Mutagaywa, the Chief of Staff of Taarifa Limited.

The discussions are believed to have centered on finding a possible way forward regarding the shutdown, which has affected media operations and raised questions about press freedom and regulatory concerns. However, specific details of the outcome of the meeting have not yet been made public.

The engagement marks an important moment in the ongoing situation, as both government and media leadership continue to navigate tensions surrounding the closure of the outlets.
