Must read

The Minister for Lands and Housing Hon Judith Nabakooba and the Association of Real Estate Agents have hosted a diplomatic delegation from the International Real Estate Federation and the European Mortgage Federation to explore innovative financing mechanisms for Uganda’s rapidly growing young population. The engagement brought together key stakeholders to discuss practical ways of making housing more accessible and affordable, especially for young people who face challenges in securing financing.

During the discussions, emphasis was placed on the need for creative and sustainable financial solutions that can support Uganda’s expanding population. With many citizens struggling to afford decent housing, the meeting provided a platform to learn from international experiences and adapt successful financing models to fit the local context. The involvement of global real estate and mortgage experts added valuable insight into how Uganda can strengthen its housing sector.

The Association of Real Estate Agents Uganda played a central role in organizing the meeting. As a professional umbrella body, it represents real estate agents, property managers, brokerage firms, consultants, and other key players in the industry. Since its establishment in 2008, the association has focused on promoting professionalism and improving standards within Uganda’s real estate sector.

Through its partnership with the Real Estate Institute of East Africa, the association has also been active in providing training and capacity-building opportunities for its members. This has helped to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to serve clients effectively and contribute to the growth of the industry.

In addition, the association continues to advocate for better policies, fair taxation, and improved financing and investment frameworks by engaging both government and private sector stakeholders. These efforts are aimed at creating a more supportive environment for real estate development in Uganda.

The meeting highlights a growing commitment to finding long-term solutions to Uganda’s housing challenges. With leaders like Minister Nabakooba taking the lead, there is renewed hope that more Ugandans, especially the youth, will gain access to affordable and sustainable housing options in the near future.
