Kampala Metropolitan Police, in coordination with the UPDF, conducted a series of successful intelligence-led operations in Wakiso District as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and improve public safety. The well-planned operations targeted known crime hotspots and led to the arrest of several suspects believed to be involved in criminal activities across the area.
The first operation took place on 14th April 2026 in Mayirikiti Zone, Buwambo Ward, Kasangati Town Council. During this raid, security teams arrested Owor Isaac, also known as “Mbolimboli.” He is suspected to be a well-known criminal and is believed to be the leader of the feared “Kasolo” gang. According to police reports, the gang has been linked to a number of house break-ins and robberies along the busy Matugga–Kasangati–Kawempe corridor. Several individuals believed to be his accomplices were also arrested during the same operation, marking a major step in disrupting the gang’s activities.
Just two days later, on 16th April 2026 at around 3:30 a.m., another intelligence-led operation was carried out in Buwate, Najjera II, within Kira Municipality. This early morning raid focused on areas known for drug abuse and related criminal behavior. During the operation, eight suspects were arrested from different hotspots. Security teams also recovered substances believed to be marijuana, which were taken as evidence.
The suspects arrested in Buwate have since been charged with possession of suspected narcotic drugs. They are currently being held at Kira Division Police Station as investigations continue. Authorities have indicated that further screening is being done to establish whether the suspects are linked to other criminal activities in the area.
Police have emphasized the important role played by the community in supporting such operations. Members of the public have been encouraged to continue sharing information that can help identify criminals and prevent crime. This cooperation, police say, is key to maintaining safety and order.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to break up criminal networks and restore peace in affected communities. Authorities have assured the public that similar operations will continue in order to keep residents safe. More updates are expected as investigations move forward.
