Police in Mukono District are appealing to the public for help in identifying a woman who appears to be deaf or unable to speak and was found with two young children at Katoogo Trading Center.
The woman was found on Monday, August 31, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m. Residents reportedly came across her with the two children and some luggage at the trading center. However, she was unable to communicate with them or explain where she had come from or where she was heading.
Police said the woman had no identification documents, making it difficult to establish her identity or trace her relatives. The children, believed to be about five months and three years old, were also with her at the time she was found.
Concerned residents took the woman and the children to Nama Police Station, where officers are currently seeking assistance to establish their identities and trace their families.
Police are now asking anyone who may recognise the woman or the children, or anyone with information about their relatives or where they may have come from, to come forward.
The public is urged to report any useful information to Nama Police Station or the nearest police station. Even small details that may help officers identify the woman, establish the children’s identities or locate their relatives could be important.
The appeal was issued by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, as police continue efforts to reunite the woman and the children with their relatives.
