Police in Nakapiripirit District are investigating a shocking case of murder by mob action that happened in Nalait Village, Kawaach Sub-county. The incident claimed the life of No. 71569 D/C Nokrach Richard, a police officer attached to Namalu Police Station.
According to preliminary reports, the deceased officer was traveling from Kawaach using a motorcycle when he allegedly knocked an elderly man. It is reported that relatives and community members who were nearby quickly gathered at the scene after the accident occurred.
What started as confusion and anger soon turned violent as the mob surrounded the police officer and attacked him. Despite attempts to escape the situation, the officer was severely beaten and later died from the injuries he sustained during the attack.
The tragic incident has left residents of the area in shock, with many condemning the act of mob justice. Community leaders and security authorities have continued to warn the public against taking the law into their own hands, saying such actions only lead to more pain, loss, and criminal charges.
