The State House Anti-Corruption Agency has recommended the interdiction of several senior district and city officials in Nkore following investigations under the “Expose the Corrupt” campaign. The move is aimed at allowing independent investigations into allegations of high-level corruption without interference from the affected officers.
In Isingiro District, eight senior officials have been recommended for interdiction following a visit by the anti-corruption team on 6 August 2026. The officials include the District Natural Resources Officer, Bwengye Emmanuel; District Veterinary Officer, Dr. Kasozi Bruhan; District Procurement Officer, Kamwine Frank; Chief Finance Officer, Byagagire Innocent; Principal Assistant Secretary, Gumisiriza Aloysius; Chief Administrative Officer, Alice Asiimwe Rushure; District Engineer, Ayebazibwe Mishaki; and District Commercial Officer, Musinguzi Patrick.
The investigations later extended to Buhweju District on 7 August 2026, where another group of officials was recommended for interdiction. Those named include Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Katambakyi Swizen, District Production Officer Nshemerirwe Flavia, District Health Officer Atukunda Prudence, Assistant Nursing Officer Byamukama John, Midwives Musimenta Lilian and Tusasire Julian, Assistant Nursing Officer Katushabe Aurellia, and SAS/Town Clerk of Nsika Town Council, Bainemugisha Gastone.
Other Buhweju officials listed include Senior Education Assistant Twinomuhoozi Gilbert, District Internal Auditor Twinomugisha Charles, and a District Physical Planner whose name is yet to be confirmed. The authorities said the action is necessary to ensure that investigations are carried out in a fair and transparent manner.
In Mbarara City, nine senior officials have also been listed for interdiction. They include Town Clerk Barekye Justine, City Commercial/Trade Officer Karakure Allan, Natural Resources Officer Niwagaba Sancho, Community Development Officer Kabeigarire Mirabel, City Health Officer Mugisha Longino, Finance Officer Kamugisha Dunant, Procurement Officer Atwine Edgar, Revenue Officer Samuel Rwakinanga, and City Engineer Tumwijukye Ben.
The Ministry of Local Government has been asked to take the necessary steps to implement the recommendations and ensure that the investigations proceed without obstruction. The interdictions are not a declaration of guilt, as the officials remain suspects until investigations are completed and evidence is presented through the proper legal process.
Minister of Local Government Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi said the fight against corruption must continue as government works to protect public resources and improve service delivery. He emphasized that accountability, transparency and responsible leadership are key to ensuring that citizens receive quality services.
The State House Anti-Corruption Agency has maintained that the campaign is focused on identifying misuse of public resources and promoting integrity among public officers. The investigations into the officials are expected to establish the facts while respecting the rights of all individuals involved.
