Police are investigating a tragic case of domestic violence that led to the death of a 42-year-old woman in Mubende District. The incident happened on April 13, 2026, at around 4:00 PM in Budibaga East LC1, Budibaga Parish, Kalonga Sub-county. The deceased, identified as Turyahikayo Evas, a peasant, reportedly died during a violent fight with her husband, Karahakye Robert, a 38-year-old butcher.
According to neighbors, the couple had a history of frequent quarrels, often over minor issues. Their constant disagreements had become a common concern within the community. On the fateful day, the argument turned physical, and the husband allegedly beat his wife severely, leaving her in critical condition.
Realizing that the situation had become serious, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee from the scene. However, neighbors quickly responded and rushed to rescue the woman, only to find that she had already died. Angered by the incident, the residents pursued the suspect and attempted to lynch him.
Local leaders intervened in time and rescued the man from the mob before handing him over to Kalonga Police Station. He was later charged with murder, and statements from witnesses have since been recorded to support investigations.
A team from the Mubende homicide unit visited the scene, while a Scene of Crime Officer documented and analyzed the area to gather evidence. The body of the deceased was transported to Mubende Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Police have used this incident to urge couples living together to practice tolerance and peaceful conflict resolution. They advised that if disagreements become too intense, partners should consider taking time apart or seeking help from relatives or community leaders instead of resorting to violence.
