Police at Katwe have recovered 120 suspected stolen iPhones and arrested four suspects believed to be involved in the possession and illegal dealing of stolen mobile devices in Kampala.
The recovery follows investigations into the theft of a police officer’s mobile phone on 16 July 2026 while he was on duty at Top City Plaza in Kisenyi Cell, Kampala.
Police said one suspect, Mugabi Richard, was arrested on 18 July 2026 at around 3:00 a.m. from his residence in Kakajo, Kisenyi Cell. During questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to stealing the officer’s phone while the officer was resting in a vehicle.

Further investigations led police to recover 120 iPhones suspected to have been obtained through theft and arrest three other suspects linked to the case.
Police said inquiries are ongoing to establish the wider network involved in the theft and sale of the suspected stolen devices.
Authorities have warned members of the public against dealing in stolen phones and urged anyone with information about criminal activities to report to police.
