The Electoral Commission has opened the nomination exercise for candidates seeking to contest in the Adjumani West Constituency Member of Parliament by-election.
Nominations are taking place today, Monday, September 7, and will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the Electoral Commission offices in Adjumani along Moyo Road. The exercise is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days.
The nomination exercise marks an important stage in the race for the Adjumani West parliamentary seat, as aspiring candidates formally present themselves for consideration ahead of the by-election.
According to the Electoral Commission programme, the campaign period will begin immediately after nominations and run from September 9 to September 15, giving candidates about one week to reach out to voters, present their messages and seek support across the constituency.
The by-election will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Voters in Adjumani West will elect their Member of Parliament, while residents will also participate in the election of the Older Persons Female Councillor for Pachara Sub County.
The Electoral Commission has urged all stakeholders to follow the official electoral programme and ensure that the process is conducted peacefully and fairly. The commission’s calendar places the polling day as the final stage of the exercise after nominations and campaigns.
