Police at Old Kampala are investigating a shocking murder that took place on 24 May 2026 at around 6:30 PM in Bakuli, Kampala Central Division, Kampala District. The incident has left the local community in fear and sadness after a disagreement between two men reportedly turned fatal.
The deceased has been identified as Denis, a 34-year-old boda boda rider and resident of Bakuli. According to early reports, Denis was a supporter of Arsenal Football Club. On the day of the incident, he is said to have gotten into a misunderstanding with another man identified only as Musiramu, who is reportedly a supporter of Manchester United Football Club.
What began as a verbal exchange is alleged to have escalated quickly into a physical fight. During the confrontation, the suspect is said to have struck Denis on the head. The impact caused Denis to fall to the ground, and he reportedly died instantly.
The incident has shocked residents, especially because what started as a disagreement linked to football team support ended in loss of life. Community members described the situation as unfortunate and avoidable, calling for calm and respect among sports fans, especially when discussing team rivalries.
After the incident, the suspect allegedly fled the scene, and police say efforts to arrest him are ongoing. Authorities have launched investigations to fully understand what led to the fatal confrontation and to ensure that justice is served.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
SP Kawala Racheal, the PRO of Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), confirmed the incident and assured the public that the suspect will be tracked down and arrested.
The tragedy has raised concerns about rising violent confrontations in social settings and the need for people to resolve disagreements peacefully, even when emotions run high over sports rivalries.
