Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has stirred fresh political debate after stating that opposition leaders Semujju Nganda and Joel Ssenyonyi “will follow very soon,” a remark widely interpreted as a warning that the two could face arrest.
The comments quickly attracted attention across Uganda’s political landscape, with supporters and critics offering differing reactions. Semujju and Ssenyonyi are among the country’s most prominent opposition figures and have frequently criticized government policies and actions.
While some supporters of Gen Muhoozi argue that anyone suspected of breaking the law should be investigated, opposition supporters have expressed concern over the remarks and their implications for political freedoms.
No official announcement had been made by law enforcement agencies regarding any planned arrests of the two leaders by the time of publication.
