Police in Bweyogerere, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, have launched investigations into the suspected suicide of an 18-year-old male student at Naalya S.S. Bweyogerere Campus.
The incident happened on the evening of 8 July 2026 when the student was discovered hanging inside a toilet block located within the school’s boys’ section. School authorities immediately informed police, who responded to the scene and began investigations.
A team of detectives and Scene of Crime officers visited the school and documented the scene as part of the inquiry. They also recorded statements from individuals who may provide important information about the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
Police said the student’s body was later taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination to help establish more details about the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that the student was seen entering the toilet block shortly before he was found dead. A handwritten note believed to have been written by the deceased was also recovered from the scene and secured by investigators.
Police said the contents of the note are being examined and will form part of the ongoing investigations as detectives work to understand what may have led to the tragic incident.
The death has caused shock and sadness among the school community, with police extending condolences to the student’s family, friends, classmates, and teachers during this difficult period.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, said investigations are still ongoing and further details will be shared as more information becomes available.
