Uganda Launches National Budget Month 2026 to Drive Economic Transformation

Must read

Uganda has officially launched the National Budget Month 2026, marking an important moment in the country’s financial and economic planning calendar. The launch brings together government leaders, policy makers, and stakeholders to discuss the direction of the national budget and how it will support development priorities across the country.

The event is being held at the MoFPED Auditorium under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. This year’s theme places strong emphasis on transforming the economy through full monetisation, with a focus on agriculture, services, industrialisation, and digital transformation.

Officials say the goal of the Budget Month is to help citizens better understand national priorities and how public resources will be allocated. It is also intended to encourage public participation in shaping economic policies that affect everyday life, from jobs and business growth to infrastructure and service delivery.

The government believes that strengthening agriculture will increase productivity and incomes for households, while expanding the services and industrial sectors will create more employment opportunities. At the same time, digital transformation is expected to improve efficiency, innovation, and access to modern services.

As the Budget Month begins, citizens are encouraged to take part in discussions and follow the engagements closely. The process is designed to make budgeting more open, inclusive, and aligned with Uganda’s long-term development goals.
