Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, one of Uganda’s most respected political and military leaders, will be accorded an official burial after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni approved the honour following his passing. The announcement was made by the Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, who described the late leader as a distinguished patriot and elder statesman who dedicated his life to serving Uganda.
In a statement released on Saturday, Minister Babalanda said President Museveni had directed that Gen. Moses Ali be given an official burial in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the country. She praised the late General for his long and dedicated service as a Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister, and former Second Deputy Prime Minister.
The Minister noted that the National Organising Committee (NOC) had already started working closely with the family to prepare a dignified and fitting send-off for the veteran politician. The committee is expected to coordinate all burial arrangements and ensure that the nation properly honours one of its most experienced leaders.
Babalanda also conveyed condolences to President Museveni, the family of the deceased, the people of Adjumani District, government officials, and all Ugandans who are mourning the loss. She prayed that Allah forgives the late General’s shortcomings and grants him Jannatul Firdaus, while giving strength and comfort to his family during this difficult period.
Gen. Moses Ali leaves behind a remarkable legacy of public service spanning several decades. Throughout his career, he played a significant role in Uganda’s political and development journey, earning admiration from many for his wisdom, leadership, and commitment to national unity. His contributions to government and the people of Uganda made him one of the country’s most recognizable and influential leaders.
