“Freedom Is Inevitable” NUP Reflects on Six Years Since Its Formation

Must read

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has marked six years since it was unveiled as the political wing of the People Power movement, celebrating what it describes as a journey of sacrifice, challenges, resilience, and determination.

Since its formation, NUP says it has faced strong criticism, political pressure, and attempts to undermine its growth. The party’s leadership recalled that many critics predicted it would not survive for long, dismissing it as a temporary movement with no future.

However, NUP says it has continued to grow into a major political force in Uganda, standing for what it describes as the rights, dignity, and freedoms of citizens. The party says its journey has been shaped by the commitment of its supporters across the country and beyond.

Marking the anniversary, NUP leaders paid tribute to their supporters and members who have faced arrests, detention, and alleged mistreatment during the political struggle. They remembered those who lost their lives while advocating for what they believe is a better Uganda.

The party also sent a message of determination, saying that challenges and setbacks would not weaken its commitment to its cause. NUP leaders said they remain focused on their mission despite what they described as continued political pressure.

The leadership thanked its members, diaspora chapters, grassroots supporters, and all Ugandans who have remained committed to the movement. They acknowledged that the journey has been difficult but insisted that change requires patience, courage, and persistence.

As NUP celebrates its sixth anniversary, the party says it remains committed to its vision of a Uganda where citizens enjoy greater freedoms, justice, and respect for human rights. The leadership urged supporters not to lose hope, describing the struggle as a long-term journey that will be completed through unity and determination.
