Namisindwa Engineer Arrested After Fleeing to Kenya Over Road Funds Allegations

The Lwakhakha Town Council Engineer in Namisindwa District, who had reportedly fled to Kenya ahead of an accountability inspection, has been arrested following a joint operation by security agencies.The engineer was apprehended on Wednesday morning after being on the run over allegations of mismanagement of road funds in the district.

The arrest was announced as part of an ongoing crackdown on corruption and misuse of public resources in local governments.Authorities commended the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Internal Security Organisation (ISO), Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), Uganda Police Force, Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and other security agencies for their swift action and cooperation in tracking down the suspect.The operation was also praised as part of wider efforts to strengthen accountability and ensure that public funds are used for their intended purposes.

Authorities said investigations into the alleged misuse of road funds are continuing, with more officials still being sought.The District Engineer, Commercial Officer and District Production Officer are among those currently being pursued over their alleged involvement in accountability concerns within Namisindwa District.Officials reiterated that no individual is above the law and that all persons found responsible for misusing taxpayers’ money will face legal action.The government has vowed to continue strengthening the fight against corruption in local governments and ensure value for every taxpayer’s shilling.
