Gen Muhoozi has issued a public apology to H.E. the President following remarks made by one of the members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Andrew Mwenda. In a post shared on his official Twitter (X) account, he described the words used by Mwenda as embarrassing, uncharacteristic, and wrong.
In his message, Gen Muhoozi stated that as Chairman of PLU, he takes responsibility for the actions and behavior of members within the organization. He apologized on behalf of the group and emphasized that such comments do not reflect the values or position of PLU. He made it clear that the organization does not support statements that could be seen as offensive or disrespectful toward the President.
He further announced that Andrew Mwenda will face a disciplinary process within the organization. This step, according to his statement, is meant to address the matter internally and ensure that members act responsibly in the future. It also signals that PLU intends to maintain order and discipline among its members.
Despite the incident, Gen Muhoozi reassured the public that the alliance between the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and PLU remains strong. He stressed that the relationship between the two groups is stable and not affected by the incident. His message aimed to calm any speculation about possible tensions between the organizations.
