The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has announced a new framework to address concerns over the duplication and uncoordinated installation of utility poles and fibre networks across the country.

The regulator says the move aims to safeguard urban order, improve public safety, and maintain the quality of telecom services. Under the strengthened guidelines, telecom companies and service providers will need to coordinate infrastructure deployment to avoid overlapping networks and protect existing installations.
UCC emphasizes that the new measures will ensure more organized and efficient expansion of telecom infrastructure while reducing risks to residents and the public.
