Tragedy at Seeta High!! Student Drowns After Football Match

Must read

A dark cloud hangs over Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus, after the tragic death of a Senior Six student in a suspected drowning incident. The victim, Nsamba Kevin, aged 21, was reported missing on the evening of Sunday, 3rd August 2025, after a lively football match with his fellow students. According to reports, Kevin and a group of students ran to the school’s swimming pool shortly after the match. Witnesses say he jumped into the deep end of the pool, which at the time had trainees under the supervision of a pool trainer.

Later that evening, the school organized a movie session for students. It was only after the film that Kevin’s friends began to realize something was wrong—he was nowhere to be seen. They began searching for him, but he was not found. The matter was first reported to the dormitory captain, then the chief warden, and eventually to the school principal. The police were officially informed the next day, Monday, 4th August, around midday.

The case, initially reported at Mbalala Police Station, was later transferred to Mukono Police Station for further investigation. A strong team of officers—including detectives, the regional CID officer, scene of crime officers (SOCOs), fire and rescue services, and ICT forensic experts—visited the scene to collect evidence and begin investigations.

Kevin’s body was retrieved and taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a full postmortem. The school’s swimming pool trainer, who was reportedly present at the time of the incident, has been arrested to help police with their inquiries. Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage from the school to understand what exactly happened.

Early findings suggest that the pool attendant was indeed on duty when Kevin entered the pool, raising more questions than answers. The results of the postmortem and digital evidence are expected to shed light on the events of that tragic evening.

This heartbreaking incident has shocked the school community and the wider Mukono district. What’s more worrying is that this is the second student death at Seeta High School in less than a year, leaving many concerned parents and students demanding tighter safety measures.

Police have promised to continue updating the public as more facts emerge. For now, the school mourns the loss of a young life, and the nation waits for answers.
