Police detectives have arrived at Parliament to carry out a search linked to ongoing investigations into the activities of outgoing Speaker Anita Among. A convoy of five police vehicles, carrying officers from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the police forensics team, reached the Parliament premises around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the officers enter the Parliament complex and head toward the sixth floor, where the Speaker’s chambers are located. The search is part of a broader investigation, though police have not released detailed information about the focus of their inquiry.
The presence of CID and forensics officers in Parliament has drawn the attention of lawmakers, staff, and the public, highlighting the seriousness of the investigation. Many are now waiting to see what findings, if any, emerge from the search, which could have significant implications for the outgoing Speaker and ongoing parliamentary activities.
