Members of public are living in total panic and fear after police Crime annual report has shown that the number of people who have been killed by use of guns is increasing, Spyreports has learnt.
According to the report that was released Director CID AIGP Tom Magambo, a total of 190 people were Gunned down in 2025 compared to 188 that were shot dead in 2024 showing an increase of 1.1%. “171 Males adults were shot dead, 12 were female adults while 07 were male juveniles,” Reads part of the wider report. It is also understood that gun violence was high in Kampala Metropolitan with 52 people shot dead followed by Kidepo 16 and moroto 14 among others.
However the report did not show the source of guns that killed those people. Relatedly, the report indicates that a total of 4238 people were killed in 2025 compared to 4329 in 2024 showing a decline of 2.1% .
The report has also indicated that 1286 Murder cases were taken to court,314 not proceeded with while 2638 remain under inquiry. It is believed that a total 4268 people were murdered and 3397 were male adults,550 were female adults ,173 Male Juveniles while 148 were female Juveniles.
“For the last four years, murder through assault counted the highest number where a total of 1326 were killed,” Says a report adding that Rwiizi region recorded the highest number with 408. The report has also indicated that a total of 950 were killed in mob action.
“Most of the murdered people out mob action were either thievies, Murderers, Witchcraft among others,” Says Report. It has also been captured in the report that 415 cases of murder by strangling were reported with Rwiizi region leading.
