Police have arrested a 27-year-old man following a viral video that circulated widely on social media platforms, including X, in which he allegedly referred to criminal activities along Jinja Road and in Banda.
The suspect, identified as Wafula Solomon, a resident of Banda Zone III in Banda Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District, was arrested on 25 June 2026 at around 12:00 noon. Officers from Banda Police Post carried out the arrest after the video caught public attention and raised security concerns.
According to police, the video appeared to contain references that suggested the existence or involvement of criminal activities in the Jinja Road area. Authorities say they are now investigating the circumstances under which the video was recorded and shared, as well as verifying whether the suspect or any individuals mentioned in the footage have any direct involvement in criminal acts.
Police have also indicated that they are expanding their investigations to identify other persons who may have been referenced in the video. They believe this step is necessary to fully understand the claims made and to determine whether any real criminal networks or activities exist in the area.
Law enforcement has cautioned members of the public against creating or sharing content that may promote, glorify, or appear to support criminal behavior. They warned that such actions could interfere with ongoing security operations and may lead to legal consequences.
Authorities further emphasized that maintaining public order is a shared responsibility and encouraged citizens to report genuine criminal activity through the proper channels instead of spreading unverified information online.
Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, and police say appropriate legal action will be taken against anyone found to have participated in or promoted criminal conduct related to the case.
